Mental Meetup Reading

Welcome to the Mental Meetup! My name is _________ and I’ll be hosting today. This is an opportunity to share our experiences.  A safe place to be heard so we can better support each other and normalize talking about feelings. Practicing talking to each other and checking in will make it easier for us to reach out if we’re not doing so well.  This meetup can be fun, heavy, whatever we want it to be.  It is for US.

Let’s open the meeting with a moment of silence for friends we’ve lost too soon and friends that are hurting.

If we are committed to bettering ourselves emotionally we will grow stronger.

  • We are becoming happier and more present.

  • We’re learning to appreciate our past for what it has taught us.

  • We are starting to love ourselves and know our worth.

  • We will try harder to be there for our friends- becoming better listeners.

  • We speak kindly to ourselves and others.

  • We are learning how to handle situations that used to overwhelm us.

  • We realize that our work to better ourselves pays off and know we are making progress.

These things WILL happen!  But progress is not linear, there will always be ups and downs.  When we make an effort things get better.

We’ll start with a reading, then I’ll describe how I’m feeling.  We can share on how we relate to the reading or something else. The reading is meant to give us something to jump off from but we don’t have to focus on it.  After I speak I will pass around the circle.   Please introduce yourself and try to limit your time to 3-7 minutes so everyone has an opportunity to be heard.  You are always free to pass and just listen. Do not interrupt other people.  Once everyone has spoken we will open up for discussion.   Everything said in this meeting stays in this meeting.  Please remember this is not a substitute for professional care.
